Dumpster diving in the 'burbs...
As many of you know, I've been a stay at home mom for well over a year now. I have been very proud of the fact that during this whole time, I have not allowed myself to be one of those people who stay home watching television all day. In fact, I rarely have the thing on - I know that must be hard to believe considering the fact that I seem addicted to primetime tv, but I swear it is true! That is until this week...for some reason I have found myself watching really bad morning television. Perhaps this is the ultimate sign that I must get my ass to work again and soon! LOL
Anyhow - holy crap! How annoying is Kelly Ripa on 'Live with REGIS and Kelly'? I don't particularly like or dislike this woman, but really she is no more than a human puppet on this show. She is there to stroke Regis' overly-large ego and laugh at his stupid humor. A monkey could do this job...or a felt-puppet. How can she stand acting so stupid and vapid all day? Maybe it isn't an act... anyhow, I was happy to see David Duchovony on the show this week and to see all the 'Vanity Fair' pictures of Suri Cruise without having to buy the magazine.
Also - I tuned in to watch Rosie O'Donnell's first day on 'The View'. I think it took exactly 4 minutes into the show for Joy (that would be the old redhead who apparently is Regis' wife for those of you who don't know - 'cause I didn't)to get catty with the new hostess. Rosie was joking around that she was growing her hair long so America wouldn't be scared of her short (aka lesbian) haircut. She also said she would be "better now" since she was taking her medicine. Har-dee-har-har. Joy jumped in to snear, "Medicine?! Does your friend Tom Cruise know about this? What does he think of that!" MEOW!! Clearly this nasty remark was unexpected by Rosie because she didn't have a quick witty comeback, instead she motioned to the HUGE basket of flowers at her feet who was from Tom Cruise. Then a few moments later they were talking about some celebrity's kids and Rosie was going on about how cute they were...Joy rolled her eyes and remarked "Oh Lord! I see another adoption coming." DAMN! What is this woman's problem? A guess she really liked Star Jones or something. Freaky ass morning shows.
Being home during the day though allowed me to witness a strange occurance though. We had a big pile of things out on our lawn for bulk trash pick up, and we also had a few nicer things out by the garage door for Volunteers of America. Both were marked clearly. I'm sitting there watching Regis or something, and this guy comes onto my lawn and "steals" all the cords off the bulk trash items. Just the cords! What is up with that? Then these ladies come by a half hour later and they walk up and ask if they can take the old dresser, which is the in the trash pile for a good reason. At least they asked and off it went. They were quickly followed by another man who parked in my driveway and took all the items that were made of steel or metal. If the trash man didn't come soon, I feared I would have called them for nothing. LOL I went to fetch a cup of coffee only to return and notice someone had STOLEN the nice lamps we were donating to charity! I was appalled! It was marked clearly for CHARITY!! Who does that? Who steals from charity? It is amazing what happens in this Hilliard/UA burb.
My long weekend went nicely. We stopped the unpacking madness long enough to venture outside. We took the kids to the Millersport Corn Festival. They rode rides and we all ate way too much corn on the cob. We went boating on Buckeye Lake finally too. It was a refreshing break.
I guess I best get off here...I'll be posting again soon. :o)

We get people all of the time going through our trash in GV. My parents also get a lot of that in Grove City.
Regis is married to a woman named Joy, but not the one on the View. I don't watch the View, but I think that's just how they are--I don't think it's mean-spirited.
I had someone steal bags of baby food jars off my front porch. They were also there for charity and I was really embarrassed (and angry) when they came for the pickup and nothing was there!
Here in the city, I haven't seen anyone actually get into the trash, but if something is left beside it, like a dishwasher or old TV, old couch, etc., within 12 hours, it will generally be gone!
